MBUX Navigation
Debuted in 2019 and standardized on all 2020 and later Mercedes-Benz models, MBUX has transformed in-car infotainment. MBUX Navigation incorporates cutting-edge tech into your multimedia experience. Take the optional augmented video for navigation, utilizing a front-mounted camera to display a high-definition view on your digital dashboard. This view includes directional arrows and address/street name identification.
MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation simplifies complex traffic situations. It seamlessly blends graphical navigation with real-time traffic data to provide the optimal route, ensuring a swift, secure, and stress-free arrival. Plus, a unique traffic light feature overlays the current light status, eliminating the wait at red lights.
MBUX over-the-air updates bring new entertainment and navigation features to 700,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles
In September, Mercedes-Benz is rolling out a comprehensive over-the-air update to over 700,000 vehicles worldwide equipped with the second-generation MBUX system. This update brings exciting new features like Dolby Atmos, enhanced Voice Assistant capabilities, and improvements in navigation and entertainment.
Owners will receive notifications about the MBUX Entertainment Update 2.4 through the Update Wizard or the Mercedes me mobile app. Once available, the update will be delivered through the vehicle’s over-the-air capabilities. Alongside the Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant enhancements, this update also introduces the NewsFlash feature and YouTube Web app on specific 2024 model year vehicles, including the S-Class, EQE, and EQS, which come with the activated Entertainment Package Plus.
With the support of Apple Music, Dolby Atmos enriches the audio experience, adding depth and clarity to music tracks. Listeners can enjoy music as the artist originally intended, with intricate instrumental layers, subtle singer nuances, and enveloping melodies.
The updated Voice Assistant in the MBUX system allows car occupants to control infotainment features using the “Hey Mercedes” command. The upcoming NewsFlash feature, set to launch later this year in the U.S., allows users to tune into news broadcasts covering a wide range of topics, from general news to business, finance, and culture. Users can also preset their favorite radio stations in the Mercedes me app and then access them with a simple “Hey Mercedes” voice command.
Additional features introduced in the OTA update include support for the front passenger Hyperscreen display in EQE and EQS models, enabling in-cabin audio for interactive content and customizable display photos. Headphones are no longer required to enjoy dynamic audio content.
For vehicles running the first-generation MBUX platform with Mercedes-Benz Navigation, the update provides access to Place Details by Google. This feature goes beyond basic address and navigation information, offering comprehensive details for over 200 million global locations, including operating hours, images, ratings, and customer reviews.
