Garmin map Pilot – map update in a few simple steps.
Looking to update your Garmin Map Pilot? Follow these simple steps for a seamless map update experience. With new map cards, you can enjoy a one-time, free map update to access the latest version available. Even if you purchased a map version from two years ago, you can easily download the latest map onto your card within 60 days of its first use in the car.
To begin, ensure you have a computer with an SD card reader and an internet connection. The update duration varies based on your connection speed and may take several hours. You’ll also need two essential programs: Adobe AIR and the Mercedes-Benz Download Manager.
Step 1: Software Installation Start by installing the Adobe AIR software on your computer, followed by the MB Download Manager.
Step 2: Assigning the Card to Your Car Insert the card into the SD card reader in your vehicle. When prompted, confirm if you want to assign the card to your vehicle. Once navigation starts, you can remove the card from the reader.
Step 3: Software Update Insert the map card into your computer’s SD card reader and launch the Mercedes-Benz Download Manager. Log in with “DLM” as both the login and password. Select “Software Update” and uncheck “Map Update.” Consider backing up the card for added security. The software update typically takes 10-15 minutes.
Step 4: Reassigning the Card to Your Car After updating the software, reassign the card to your car following the same process as in Step 2.
Step 5: Map Update Repeat the process from Step 3, but this time select “Map Update.” Again, consider enabling the card backup function. The map update may take several hours, and the program will keep you informed of the progress.
Step 6: Ready to Go! Place the card back into the reader in your car and leave it there for navigation. Enter your destination, and you’re all set to hit the road.
