Mazda Connect CarPlay / Android Auto USB Hub Retrofit

This Mazda category is for cars running Mazda Connect System that do not have CarPlay or Android Auto yet. The upgrade is done the usual Mazda way: you swap the original USB hub for the CarPlay/Android Auto hub and connect the matching cables. The firmware update is part of the package because the hub upgrade and old CMU software do not mix well.

What the kit is

The retrofit is based on the common Mazda hub part numbers TK78-66-9U0C / 00008FZ34. You receive the upgraded hub and the correct wiring. Access to firmware 70.00.100 is included in the correct region version (EU / ADR / NA).

USB port style and how people use it

You can choose the hub version that matches the USB port style you want in the cabin (Type-A or Type-C). Some owners prefer to stay wired for charging, others want wireless use where available. Pick the option that matches how you drive day to day.

Firmware note (important)

CarPlay/Android Auto on Mazda Connect 1 normally expects CMU software at v70.00.021 or higher. If your current version is lower, update the firmware first, then install the hub.

Small tip that prevents headaches: take the navigation SD card out before the firmware update, and only put it back after the update is finished. This avoids the “navigation/GPS stopped working” situation that is usually fixed by re-inserting the card.
