Introduction

Mercedes navigation systems are denoted by an “NTG” version, which stands for “Neue Telematik Generation.” The NTG series includes various versions, with the most recent being NTG7, also known as MBUX-HIGH. Each version is designed to be compatible with specific vehicle models.

Comand and Business Navigation

Mercedes typically offers two types of systems within each telematics generation: Comand, a premium Mercedes navigation system, and a business navigation system. Prior to 2011, the business system was known as APS 50. Since 2011, expansion modules have been used for the standard radio, and the APS 50 naming convention has been phased out.

Mercedes Comand GT These expansion modules, provided by brands like Becker and Garmin, are fully compatible and seamlessly integrated with the standard Audio 20 Radio.

With the introduction of MBUX, Mercedes returned to three system types: MBUX-high, mid, and entry. The choice of system also depends on the type of instrument cluster in your vehicle, with Mid and High options suitable for the more advanced instrument cluster, while Entry is available for others.
